On November 1, 1995, Section 115, the compulsory mechanical license provision, of the U.S. Copyright Law, was amended to cover the reproduction and delivery of sound recordings by digital transmission. This amendment was part of the Digital Performance Right in Sound Recordings Act of 1995.
